Why do I need UPF clothing?

UPF 50+ clothing blocks 98% of UVA/UVB rays from reaching your skin. By blocking these harmful UV rays, you are protecting your skin from all the damage it can cause including decreasing your risk of developing skin cancer.

Do I need UPF clothing if I am wearing sunscreen?

UPF clothing is the absolute best way to protect your skin and should be used as the main source for protection. Sunscreen only needs to be used on areas of skin that are not covered by UV protective clothing.

A proactive step in avoiding skin cancer is UPF (UV) protective clothing. However, finding this clothing can be difficult. What is UV Protective clothing?

UPF clothing is clothing specifically designed for sun protection and is produced from a fabric rated for its level of ultraviolet (UV) protection. The fabric used has certain features such as tighter weaves and the addition of certain mineral ingredients to help form a barrier against the sun’s rays.

Each time you cover your SPOTMYUV® sticker with sunscreen, your SPOT will turn clear, helping to show you that you're protected from the sun's harmful UV rays. When your sunscreen wears off, SPOTMYUV® turns purple again to remind you to reapply your sunscreen. Each SPOT lasts up to 3 days.

HOW TO APPLY SPOTMYUV PRO+

START with a PRO+ CLEANING WIPE. Select sun-exposed skin for sensor placement. Use a wipe; make sure the area is oil or lotion-free. Let dry.

APPLY a SPOTMYUV PRO+ SUN SENSOR

1- Peel the Sensor off the backing using tab and place the Sensor, sun-exposed skin (Avoid touching adhesive)

2- Pull the tab away and press firmly on the Sensor to ensure good adhesion

3- Apply sunscreen over the Sensor, let it absorb

4- Apply sunscreen to all sun-exposed skin following the manufacturer’s directions

5- When sunscreen protection is effective, the Sensor will gradually turn to clear

6- Use the Sun Sensor UV Exposure diagram to assess your protection

7- Enjoy the sun and reapply sunscreen when the Sensor turns purple again

*If the sensor is not transparent when exposed to UV outdoor sun: Use a higher SPF sunscreen, apply more sunscreen, or check the expiry date of your sunscreen

** Sun sensors do not work indoors.
